This topic is one where students first start to understand the cooperation between different variables in a system. We will start them off by graphing algebraic expressions according to a given rule and identify have them identify if those equations are functions. Students will also be asked to complete ordered pairs which is referred to as a relation. A function is a special form of a relational that contains an additional rule set. This will require that they understand the use and function of a coordinate plane. Use these worksheets to teach your students how to work with ordered pairs, understand domain and range, and use graphs and tables to determine the values of variables.

Relations from Equations Lesson
Complete the table using the rule given. Graph the relation, and tell whether it is a function: y = 3x - 1

Relations from Equations Practice Worksheet
Complete each ordered pair to form a solution to a given equation. Example: 3x - y = 1; (3, __), (-2, __), (__, 5)

Relations and Functions Worksheet 1
Complete each ordered pair to form a solution to a given equation. See if they follow a special sequence that can be thought of as a rule. Example:
x + y = 2; (-2, __), (__, 0), (3, __)

Advanced Relations Worksheet
Solve each equation. Give your answer as a list of ordered pairs. Example: 3x + 7y = 21; x € {-7, 0, 7}; y € {all rational numbers}
